Evenings for Educators are offered each Fall and Spring semester and are designed to spur educators' interactions with the FWM and with their peers. Teachers and arts professionals can step outside of the classroom to explore how contemporary art, and FWM programs in particular, can enliven classroom discussions and activities. Evenings for Educators will demonstrate ways for educators and their students to become involved in the FWM's school-museum collaborations including Study Tours, the Apprentice Training Program and internships. As part of the evening's events, we will present a demonstration of repeat silkscreen design and printing. Educators can learn the basics of silkscreen printing techniques in this informative session.

Study Tours
These unique tours lead students through current exhibitions and beyond. A visit to the FWM includes a behind-the-scenes look at the museum and at art in progress in the workshop. Tours last approximately 60 minutes for grades K-5, and 75 minutes for grades 6-12 and college and adult groups. Groups may request a specific focus for their tour. Educators can also arrange multiple visits for their classes. This enables teachers to better incorporate their interactions with the FWM into their curricula. Multiple visits provide the opportunity to view artists' projects as they progress and to observe in the creative process. Tours must be booked at least two weeks in advance. Due to space limitations groups must be limited to 30 or fewer.

K-5 Student Groups
Tours for students in grades K-5 focus on the process of making art and the physical qualities of artists' materials. Students also learn about the silkscreen printing process and are introduced to samples of project materials. These encounters help students understand the limitless possibilities of artistic media.

Grades 6-12, College and Adult Groups
For older students and adults, tours are designed to be even more interactive. These tours often inspire discussions about meaning and language, science, social concerns, and other areas of human experience. Contemporary art at the FWM can be dynamic and stimulating. The FWM staff is here to help mediate interactions and facilitate conversations.

In-School Presentations
Our In-School Presentations bring the FWM to your classroom! Education staff members present an interactive discussion about silkscreen printing and current artists' projects at the FWM.

FWM education programs are age-appropriate and FREE for school, community and museum groups. Title I qualified schools are invited to inquire about Bus Grants. A limited number of stipends are available to assist schools with the cost of transportation. For more information about this opportunity, contact the FWM Education Coordinator.

Onsite Studio
The Onsite Studio program extends art-making activities that take place through the Apprentice Training Programs and its Artist-in-Residence program to the school environment. A FWM-trained teaching artist works with a class of school students (grades 2 - 12) and their teacher, meeting twice each week over a period of six weeks, to facilitate a collectively designed silkscreen image. Two of these meetings will take place at the FWM, the first focusing on silkscreen design and exploring the FWM's current exhibition and the final visit to print the students' final design with assistance from the FWM teaching artist. The finished project will be a 15-yard silkscreen print that derives from the schools' curricula and is designed by students. When possible, the FWM provides bus grants to defray the cost of schools' transportation to the FWM.

Family Programs
FWM Family Programs are designed for families to explore and learn about contemporary art in new and exciting ways. Using the FWM's exhibitions and unique studio environment as a foundation for learning, Family Programs feature hands-on activities designed to spark interest, arouse curiosity, and encourage children and adults to learn about art and culture together. Workshops allow families time and space to share in the creative process and expression inside and outside the Museum walls.
